I Like Baptism Hymns

Rejoice, dear Christians, in the flood
That cleans us from transgression;
This water’s Word pours on the blood
That purchased our salvation.
If we had not received this bath,
We still would lie beneath God’s wrath,
Lost in our sinful nature;
But now we sing God’s grace for us:
Christ has fulfilled all righteousness -
We are His newborn creature!

So come, repentant, bring your sins,
This washing still does save you,
Again God’s promise new begins
With all that Jesus gave you:
His death to sin is here made yours,
His blood here still forgiveness pours,
His life new life has given;
Then grasp this gift of grace with faith
It stays with you through life and death,
Makes you an heir of heaven.

And wealth may leave and health may fail,
This bath will never leave you;
God's Word will at the last prevail,
Nor can your Lord deceive you.
So now you have a life to live,
That you by faith in Christ receive,
A life of love forever.
No pain or gloom, however great
Has strength enough to separate
Your soul from Christ your Savior.

This fits in ironically well with my blog post today. I think I'm going to link it. If you had an index, I'd link to the entire repertoire of Baptism hymns.
